About the Artwork

A woman sits confined within a dark room, dressed in a flowing white dress that softly catches the sunlight entering from one side. Despite her surroundings, she remains gentle and serene, extending her hand toward a cautious peacock rather than fearing it. Inspired by Plato’s Cave, the painting explores the tension between confinement and awakening—the darkness representing the limitations of an accepted reality, while the light symbolizes awareness of something beyond it. The quiet connection between the woman and the peacock suggests that freedom can begin not by escaping our surroundings, but by becoming willing to perceive beyond them.
